AVID
The AVID elective is a college preparatory course that provides academic and social support for students while holding them accountable to the highest standards (AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination). In the AVID class, students learn organization, time management, and goal setting skills that set-them up for high school success. In addition, AVID students develop notetaking and study skills, practice college prep Critical Reading strategies, improve writing skills, participate in peer collaboration, and develop presentation skills that help them become better students. AVID students participate on college field trips and career projects as part of their agency and leadership skills development to ensure college and career readiness.
