All students who would like to partake in any school sports must complete the clearance process.
Athletics Clearance Registration
No physicals are necessary for all middle school sports.
Welcome to Eastlake Middle Athletics! Participation in a sports program is one of the best ways to keep students involved and interested in school. My role as Athletic Director is to ensure that students are aware of the sports opportunities available to them.
Just like high schools, we now have an official, district-sponsored organization called the Middle School Athletics League (MSAL). Our students are able to compete against other schools within the Mesa League, which is one of the two leagues that exist under the MSAL. These are the “official” school teams, and should not be confused with the school intramural programs.
The Middle School Athletics League (MSAL) was formed during the 2008-2009 school year, and since that time ELM students have been hugely successful, performing at high levels during their seasons.
Eastlake Middle School Athletics will adhere to the Triton Traits; pursing victory through Kindness, Growth Mindset, Self-Control, Gratitude, Curiosity, Enthusiasm, Resilience and Teamwork. In addition, we will instill good sportsmanship, promote leadership and independence on and off the field, require dedication and hard work, and our teams will seek to be competitive at all levels. In order to play sports at ELM a student must maintain a minimum of a 2.0 GPA in academics and citizenship grades.
Athletic Eligibility
Online clearance system is open for all sports. All incoming and returning student-athletes are REQUIRED to have online consents completed as part of the clearance process. Here are the basic steps to follow when registering your athlete for the first time:
INSURANCE REQUIREMENT
If you do not have insurance, a low-cost ‘student accident coverage’ may be purchased using the following district-approved coverage provider. Please note that ‘School Time Accident Plan’ for as low as $53 will provide the coverage your child needs to participate in our athletic program.
Upon completion of your athletic registration an email will be sent to your parent; please print and sign your confirmation message and submit it to Mrs. Coziahr in Room 405 or turn in to front office Attn: Mrs. Coziahr.

NO physical tests are needed for middle school athletes.
You will find a list of projected sports on the right menu (scroll down if on a phone); of course, each program is subject to change, according to funding from the Sweetwater Union High School District. Please note that each team has limited space for participants. Though some sports are more competitive on try-out day than others, first-time players are strongly encouraged to try out. Games are typically held on Saturdays, and practices are usually held two or three times a week after school, at times convenient for the coach of each particular team.
