Counseling Center Update

Hello Triton Family!

Hard to believe that we are in the 6th week of school and that Fall break is around the corner! The school year is moving along quickly. Thank you for staying strong and putting forth your BEST effort. Here is an update from the counseling center:


Educational Essentials

Counselors will be presenting to all students from 8/28-9/14 during their TSP class on Educational Essentials. This presentation will cover the role of the counselor, promotion requirements, GPA calculations, study tips, Compact for Success, A-G requirements and stress management. 1st Progress Report

The Progress Report will be distributed to students on Tuesday, September 5. Be sure to sit with your student and review their grades. Ask them to calculate their GPA (grade point average) and to show you what their current GPA is. If they need a refresher, check out the 7th grade Educational Essentials Presentation.


College Fair and Career Expo

A great opportunity to explore colleges and careers at Montgomery High School on Monday, Oct. 2 from 5:30-8:00.



Compact for Success 7th Grade Field Trip

Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to learn about the Compact for Success and San Diego State University. It’s a fun day for the whole family. Free Food, Free T-shirt, and much more. Turn in permission by Sept. 14.

Other Information:

  1. The Walk for Change Eventwill conclude this week. We appreciate your support of PTSO’s fundraiser and remind you that participation is entirely voluntary. Please note the following:
  • Students were asked to collect 20 quarters. All proceeds will be split between a local charity and a school project.
  • Students will receive free shirts on Thursday. Students are asked to wear the shirts to school on Friday.
  • Students were asked to donate one can of food to their TSP classes, which will be donated to San Diego’s food bank.
  • Prizes will be awarded for top contributors and top contributing classes
  • All students are invited to attend EastLake High’s footballgame on Friday night. Admission is free for students who are wearing their free shirts. Please note, seats will not be reserved so early arrival is recommended.
  1. The annual Clubs & Activities Fundraiseris kicking off this week. This year, students will only be selling cookie dough, which will be delivered by the holiday season, and limited other food & gift items. Again, participation is entirely voluntary. All proceeds will be split between ELM’s active clubs and activities.
  2. Preorder your eighth grade spirit shirt at the ASB for $10. Shirts will have a fun design and the names of all members of the class of 2018. Proceeds benefit the ELM yearbook club.
    4. Yearbooks are now on sale at the ASB for $28.00. Yearbooks may sell out before the end of the year and the price will increase after the winter break.
    5. PTSO (Parent Teacher Student Organization) needs you! Please
    consider a $10 family membership for the school year. Money raised goes toward teacher grants and on-site activities. The PTSO also collects Box Tops in the main office.
    6. The Disneyland trip is now on sale for qualifying eighth graders. Please visit the field trip tab on the school’s website for more information, including eligibility requirements and the permission slip. The Disneyland trip is on Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 8-8. The trip costs $105, which includes a park ticket and seat on a charter bus. A fourth bus has reserved and limited seats are still available.

SDSU Compact for Success Field Trip 2017

Dear Parents & 7th grade students,

San Diego State University cordially invites you to the 18th Annual 7th Grade Campus Visit on Saturday, October 21, 2017.  The event is only for 7th graders and their guardians. It will be a fun morning filled with exciting information that will help you along the path to a university.

Your iPad has a filter on it that may make it impossible for you to use your internet browser when you are at home. In order to use the internet, you must complete the following actions:

1. Make sure you are connected to your wi-fi at home.
2. Click on the iBoss Web Filters (SUHSD Login) App. Look at the attachment to see what the button looks like. If you don’t have the app, you can also go to the following link: cluster121751-swg.ibosscloud.com/mobileLogin
3. Login using the following:

Username: iboss
Password: suhsd1

That’s it! You should now be able to access your web browser to connect to the internet.

Apps that have been provided by the district may be found in the app titled “Catalog” (we no longer use the App Store). You may download any of those apps onto your iPad, if they are not already there.

If you need help using any of the apps on your iPad, please visit the student led Triton Tech Team in room 506 during 7th grade lunch/8th grade TSP.
